In early April 2022, TAUCHER O. WULF 8 completed its final mission for Otto Wulf GmbH & Co. KG by towing the tugboat "WPower" from Cuxhaven to Esbjerg, Denmark. Captain Jörn Kaliske and his crew delivered "WPower" to Smeedegaarden A/S for scrapping. A few weeks later TAUCHER O. WULF 8 was sold by Smeedegaarden A/S to Norway.
Originally known as "Escort" under Lütgen & Reimers, the former Kort nozzle tug was purchased in 1994 and renamed TAUCHER O. WULF 8. From that time onward, the proud vessel provided 28 years of loyal service to our towing company. With her home port of Rostock on the stern, the large black "W" on the funnel, and the coat of arms of the city of Cuxhaven on the superstructure, she sailed throughout Northern European waters. The tug was involved in the full range of Otto Wulf's operations. Both the tug and crew consistently demonstrated impressive skill and expertise in accomplishing tasks with this "small" tugboat.
Numerous passersby and enthusiasts at her berth in Cuxhaven, as well as photos and model replicas, are a testament to the enduring enthusiasm that TAUCHER O. WULF 8 inspired in both young and old alike.
